On 7th June Apple officially revealed the 4th Generation iPhone.

According to Apple the iPhone 4 is the thinnest Smartphone ever.  Constructed from a stainless steel frame and sandwiched between black glass it fits in line with the iPad and iMac.  Although slighly heavier than the 3GS, it is actually thinner and measures 115.2 x 58.7 x 9.3mm.

The new phone is powered by an A4 CPU (the same chip used in the iPad) and sports a 3.5-inch screen with 960×640 resolution, dual mics, and an upgraded camera system that will include HD video recording and editing capabilities. It's not all about the power with this new set up though, according to Apple the efficiences in this new processing unit and an increase of 16% in size of the battery means up to 40% longer talk time.

One of the most anticipated features of the new iPhone is iPhone 4.0 OS, or iOS. The new operating system supports multitasking, video chat, better file management and folders, iBooks, the new iAd platform and the Apple Game Center.

The screen quality is the single most used feature of any handset.  Measuring 3.5 inches the new iPHone has all the features found in the previous generation but now also boasts the best display on the market.  With a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels, it hasfour times as many pixels as the 3GS and a massive 326 pixel per inch.  Apple calls this new screen technology "Retina Display".  The apps will take automatic advantage of the increased relative resolution, which mean they will be a lot sharper for text, 3D graphics and vectorial art.

The new iPhone 4 will be available from 24th June 2010.
